Islamic Stories in English: Prophet Yahya (AS)

Gather around, my dear children! Today, I want to tell you the beautiful story of Prophet Yahya (AS)—a story filled with kindness, love, and hope.

Long ago, his father, Prophet Zakariya (AS), prayed to Allah with a very soft and hopeful heart, asking for a righteous child. Even though he was very old, Allah heard his gentle prayer and blessed him with a wonderful baby boy named Yahya.

This was a great blessing from Allah. Yahya (AS) would grow up to become a prophet and guide people toward what was right.Prophet Yahya AS teaching his people about Islam

From a very young age, Prophet Yahya (AS) loved Allah dearly and treated everyone around him with deep respect and care.

The Quran tells us that Allah gave Yahya (AS) wisdom while he was still young. He was not like other children who only wanted to play all day.

Yahya (AS) loved Allah from a young age. He learned what was good and stayed away from things that were wrong.

He was gentle with people. He did not treat anyone badly or make fun of others.

Yahya (AS) had a kind heart. He cared about people and wanted them to live in a way that pleased Allah.

He was also very careful about obeying his parents. He was never rude or disobedient toward them.Prophet Yahya AS showing kindness and respect to his parents

The Quran describes him as kind to his parents. He was not proud, harsh, or rebellious.

Imagine a young boy who listens carefully when his parents speak. He helps them, respects them, and tries to make them happy.

That was part of the beautiful character of Yahya (AS). His kindness was not only for his family.

He was kind to everyone around him. He wanted people to remember Allah and follow the truth.

As Yahya (AS) grew older, Allah gave him an important mission. He became a prophet and taught people to worship Allah alone.Arabic calligraphy of Allah in glowing gold against a bright blue sky with soft white clouds

Yahya (AS) encouraged people to obey Allah. He reminded them that this life is important and that everyone should prepare for the Hereafter.

He taught people to stay away from sin. He wanted their hearts to become clean and their actions to become good.

Yahya (AS) was brave when he taught the truth. He did not change his message just because some people might become unhappy with him.

He knew that pleasing Allah was more important than pleasing people.

He also lived a simple life. He did not become proud because Allah had chosen him as a prophet.Even though he had a special place among the prophets, he remained humble and gentle.

His message was simple. Worship Allah, do what is right, avoid sin, and treat other people with kindness.

He was also known for his purity. His heart was clean, and he tried to keep his actions clean as well.

The Quran tells us that peace was upon him on the day he was born, on the day he would die, and on the day he would be raised to life again.

What a beautiful honor!

Yahya (AS) had a special beginning. His birth itself was a miracle and a great answer to his father’s dua.

So children, always remember that the birth of Prophet Yahya (AS) was a special miracle and a beautiful answer to his father’s dua. His father, Prophet Zakariya (AS), waited a very long time for a child, but I want you to know that he never gave up hope and kept asking Allah.

Sometimes, when we make dua, we wonder why the answer takes time. The story of Yahya (AS) teaches us to keep praying and trust Allah, because He always knows the best time to answer us.

Dear children, whenever your parents ask you to do something good, listen with a happy heart! If you ever make a mistake, just say sorry and try again. Being good simply means we keep trying our best.

Even small good actions—like praying, learning the Quran, helping at home, or speaking kindly—are precious to Allah when done with love. The story of Prophet Yahya (AS) reminds us that no matter how young you are, every single day is a chance to grow closer to Allah!

May Allah help us follow the good example of Prophet Yahya (AS) and make our hearts kind, humble, pure, and close to Him.
