Long ago, Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) lived among people who worshipped idols.They made idols from stone and wood. Then they prayed to them and asked them for help.

But Ibrahim (AS) knew that idols could not hear, see, speak, or help anyone.He wanted his people to think carefully.

One day, Ibrahim (AS) asked his father and his people, “Why do you worship things that cannot hear you or help you?”They did not have a good answer.

Ibrahim (AS) taught them, “Allah created you and everything around you. So worship Allah alone.”But the people were angry. They did not want to leave their idols.

Ibrahim (AS) was not afraid to speak the truth.He used simple and clever reasoning to show them that their idols were powerless.

One day, when the people left, Ibrahim (AS) went near their idols. He broke the idols, leaving the biggest one standing.When the people returned, they were shocked.“Who did this to our gods?” they asked.

Ibrahim (AS) told them to ask the biggest idol!The people knew the idol could not speak.They said, “You know these idols cannot speak!”Ibrahim (AS) replied, “Then why do you worship them?”His words made them think.

But instead of accepting the truth, they became even more angry.They decided to punish Ibrahim (AS) by throwing him into a huge fire.The fire was blazing and frightening.

But Ibrahim (AS) trusted Allah completely.Allah protected His beloved prophet. He commanded the fire:“Be cool and safe for Ibrahim.”The fire could not harm him!

Ibrahim (AS) showed incredible courage. He stood for the truth even when he was alone.He did not follow people blindly. He thought, asked questions, and used reason to understand the truth.

Most importantly, he trusted Allah.

Be brave when you know something is right.
Use your mind, ask good questions, and never worship anyone except Allah.

Prophet Ibrahim (AS) made this beautiful dua:

 حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ

  • Transliteration:

Hasbunallahu wa ni’mal-wakeel.

  • Translation:

“Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs.” (Surah Ali ‘Imran, 3:173)
