Today, I want to share a powerful Prophet Yunus story for kids.Allah chose him as a special messenger and sent him to guide his people to worship Allah alone.
Prophet Yunus (AS) loved his people deeply. He wanted them to believe in Allah and leave their wrong ways, so he patiently called them toward goodness and truth.

He told them, “Worship Allah alone. He is your true Lord. Do not worship anyone besides Him.”
However, many of them refused to listen. They turned away from his message and continued in their old ways. Prophet Yunus (AS) kept reminding them, speaking to them again and again, hoping they would turn back to Allah before it was too late. Yet, they resisted and refused to change.
Overcome with frustration and sorrow, Prophet Yunus (AS) made a mistake: he left his people before Allah gave him permission to depart.
He traveled until he reached the sea, where he found a ship ready to sail. He boarded the ship with other travelers, and the waves gently carried them forward.
At first, everything seemed calm, but soon a powerful storm arose. Strong waves tossed the ship up and down, and the wind raged around them.

The people on board realized the ship was carrying too much weight and that someone had to be thrown overboard to save the rest. They decided to draw lots to choose who it would be.
Prophet Yunus’s name was drawn.
Reluctant to cast him into the sea, they drew lots a second time, and again his name appeared. They drew lots a third time—and once more, his name was selected. Prophet Yunus (AS) understood that this was Allah’s will, and he stepped into the dark, roaring sea.

The waves surrounded him, and then Allah commanded a great whale to swallow him.
Imagine how dark and frightening it must have been inside that whale: surrounded by the darkness of the night, the darkness of the deep ocean, and the darkness inside the creature.
Yet, even in those terrifying depths, Prophet Yunus (AS) knew that Allah could see him, hear him, and know exactly where he was.
He realized his mistake and turned to Allah with a humble heart. He did not blame anyone else; instead, he admitted his fault and prayed:
“لَّا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ”
He had no boat, no companions, and no way to escape on his own—only his faith in Allah.
Allah heard his prayer. Out of His immense mercy, Allah commanded the whale to deliver him safely to the shore.

Prophet Yunus (AS) was weak, exhausted, and ill, but Allah caused a plant to grow over him, providing shade and nourishment as he recovered.
Once he regained his strength, Allah sent Prophet Yunus (AS) back to his people. When he returned, an amazing grace awaited him: while he was away, his people had realized their mistake, repented sincerely, and turned back to Allah. Allah accepted their repentance and blessed them.
